Dr. Thomas Schwarcz
Board-Certified Vascular Surgeon with special expertise in the treatment of venous disease
Dr. Schwarcz graduated from the Ohio State University College of Medicine in 1979 and finished his residency training in General Surgery at the University of Vermont Medical Center in 1984. He then completed a two-year fellowship in Peripheral Vascular Surgery at Loyola University Medical Center (Chicago) in 1986. Dr. Schwarcz became a faculty member at the University of Illinois in Chicago and then at the University of Kentucky, ultimately as a Professor of Surgery. He has been in practice with the Lexington Surgeons since 2003. Dr. Schwarcz is Board-Certified in Vascular Surgery and is both a Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation and a Registered Vascular Technologist. Dr. Schwarcz is a member of several vascular societies including the Society for Vascular Surgery, the Southern Association for Vascular Surgery, Midwestern Vascular Surgery Society, and the Peripheral Vascular Surgical Society. His practice is dedicated to vascular and endovascular treatment of arterial and venous disease, and he is the Medical Director of theThe Vascular Laboratory at Lexington Surgeons. Dr. Schwarcz has personally performed more than 500 endovenous laser ablation procedures in the Vein Central office. He has also had great success with the new technologies used for the endovenous treatment of deep vein thrombosis.
